Persons with Disabilities



Athena is currently running a Business Administration NQF Level 2 learnership for 200 persons with disabilities. The learnership is running nationally with learners being hosted in their locality to facilitate with transportation and othe basic needs. The duration of this learnership will be between 12 to 18 months. These learners have been placed in various workplaces for the above-mentioned period where they will be required to perform administrative duties within the various workplaces.

The key areas that we looked at during the selection process were:
    • Persons with disabilities from rural areas.
    • Persons with disabilities from social and economically challenging communities.
    • Persons with disabilities who have very few or no opportunities of receiving post-matric education.

ATHENA-ITN is the lead employer and training provider and will handle all training, administration and will pay the learners a monthly sustenance allowance from the Services SETA.

Benefits to the Learners
    • Learners will receive workplace experience in administration
    • Learners will receive a National Certificate: Business Administration (NQF level 2) on success completion
    • Learners will receive a monthly sustenance allowance to assist with transportation and meals cost for the learnership.

Learner's obligations in terms of the learnership

    • To attend facilitation sessions and complete the relevant tasks and assignments that they will be given.
    • To spend 70% of the time during this learnership at the workplaces to gain the relevant administrative experience.
